We got a really exciting update this week, but for you to fully grasp the exciting part you need some back-story. Last March we had several colleagues here doing some training and had a chance to take them out on the streets for our Friday night evangelism among the punks and druggies. That night a guy named Bernard (whom we already had some contact with and had given a Bible) actually knelt down in the middle of the street and prayed to receive Christ. Surrounded by punks and drunks laughing at him, he prayed the prayer. He was a little buzzed himself to say the least, so we were concerned about him and wanted to follow up.
Unfortunately, he lived away from the Netzwerk part of town, and ours too, so we were sort of dependant on him coming back, which he did not do. We went several months not being able to find out how he was doing.
Well, Monday afternoon one of our team-members ran into him again! It turns out that he was so convicted that night that he checked himself into a six-month rehab program THE VERY NEXT DAY. He was just let out about a month ago. He now lives in another part of town. The kid has a German high school degree and speaks multiple languages and is really bright. He is looking to start architectural studies soon. He is not being discipled right now, so keep him in your prayers.

I just received an e-mail from another brother God touched in the exact same way.... He has now been sober for more than 3 years, was baptized in our church, and has his own apartment and two jobs. Pray that Ray will find a job that will pay enough to enable him to spend more time in discipleship. I promised him a trip to Germany if he would stay sober for one year. He's earned the "reward" but has been unable to take the time off from his work to do so. God bless you all!
